When he signed with the label Naïve Records (2013) he was regarded by the English media as an exceptional music talent. He was featured in daily national French newspaper Le Figaro and his live concerts have been broadcast by national European TV channels.
Anthony Strong was educated at one of the three most important music schools in England. He started with classical music and then moved to jazz. His initial passion for Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans and Wynton Kelly brought him towards Frank Sinatra, Mel Torme and Nat King Cole: singing was a natural progression.
An unexpected offer to substitute for Jerry Lee Lewis in a musical in London’s West End allowed him to develop a strong ability on stage. This quality allows him to create an extraordinary rapport with his public.
So far, Anthony Strong has performed in 26 countries and 4 continents, in prestigious venues like the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, the French festival Jazz in Marciac, the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and the Litchfield Festival in the USA.
His last album, Stepping up, topped the iTunes USA jazz charts and NPR radio dedicated a special programme to him, live from Hollywood.
The album On a clear day has an admittedly “old school” repertoire that embraces the jazz standards and the classics, and taking on early Stevie Wonder and Motown.
A new album will be released in 2019, but that’s still a secret… quite a nice surprise for Visioninmusica’s audience!
